Chinese Journalist Publishes Book about Poland
Du Jing, Chinese author, journalist and photographer published her third book about Poland.
Poland in Four Seasons, issued by China Book Press, was written to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Poland regaining independence. Reviewer of the Chinese newspaper Renmin Ribao wrote about the book:
Du Jing has visited Poland many times and follows with interest its history, culture, politics and economy. She believes that Poland, while not being a big country, is a cultural power. A once devastated country that was partitioned three times and disappeared from the map of Europe for 123 years is now standing stands among the nations of the world. What made Poland rise up again? In Du Jing's view, it was the power of its culture.
During the official premiere of the book, which took place on 17th December 2018 at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Beijing, the author received Bene Merito medal from the hands of the Polish Ambassador Wojciech Zajączkowski. The distinction is awarded by the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs to honour contributions to Poland’s cultural exchange with other countries.
'Culture is the link between people's hearts and the bridge to promote Chinese-Polish friendship' said Du Jing during the ceremony.
It is worth mentioning that Poland in Four Seasons is the author’s third book about Poland’s people and culture, after I, Culture Poland which was published in 2012 with the support from the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and Amber-Coloured Gdańskreleased in 2016.
In the foreword to the current book the Director of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute Krzysztof Olendzki wrote:
If you would like to know and understand Poland, you need to know the Polish culture. Once you know it, you will – I am quite certain of it – love it deeply, as all Poles do, as Ms Du Jing, Chinese renowned journalist and author of this book does. Ms. Du is an ambassador of Polish culture in China.
