The title of the exhibition And the transparent depths / Reflected their futile shapes is a verse from Adam Mickiewicz's poem Above the vast, clear depths. A large photography of forest and river, presented at the LAB 47 gallery, referred directly to the Romantic scenery of the poem. The photo was surrounded by a frieze of the light installation and the cut out images of an athlete.
(...) the cut out images of a Chinese athlete punctuate the space. This dancing frieze was inspired by Polish traditional craft (...). During mportant festivals Polish women prepare 'cacka' to decorate their houses. The cutting patterns are geometric. They create a repetitive decorative style - says the artist.
For the opening, Karolina Kaźmierska invited Chinese sound artist Cao Xiaoyang, a young activist of the underground music scene in Tianjin, to make a musical performance. He remixed a Mazurka of Fryderyk Chopin with electronic music, as a dialogue between cultures and times.
